Common questions

Asked before, answered here.

The things people most want to know before picking up the phone — costs, commitments and how we actually work.

Tell us, and we will adapt. Some people want more time, a family member present, information in larger print, or the conversation split across two meetings instead of one. Bereavement, ill health, caring responsibilities and money worries all make financial decisions harder, and none of them are unusual. You do not need to explain more than you want to — just say what would help.

Nothing. Your initial planning call is free and without obligation. It’s a chance for us to understand your situation and for you to decide whether we’re the right fit. Any costs for advice are always set out in writing before you commit.

We listen. You tell us where you are, what’s worrying you and what you’d like life to look like — we’ll ask a few questions and tell you honestly whether and how we can help. No preparation is needed, though a rough idea of your pensions, savings and any policies helps. There’s no obligation and nothing to sign.

Our advice suits people who have built up pensions, investments or other assets and want them looked after as one joined-up plan. If you are not sure whether that is you, the first conversation is free and we will tell you honestly either way.

Initial advice is charged for preparing your personal plan and recommendations; ongoing charges apply only if you choose an ongoing review service. Both are explained and agreed in writing — with a personalised illustration — before any chargeable work starts.

Yes. Bright Wealth is a trading style of Lyncombe Consultants Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under reference 618025. To check, go to the Financial Services Register, type in Bright Wealth into the search box and search for firm, then scroll down to Lyncombe Consultants Ltd — Bright Wealth is shown underneath as a trading name.

Not us — and that’s deliberate. Your investments and pensions are held by regulated providers and platforms in your own name; we advise on them and arrange them, but we never hold your money directly. Depending on the product and provider, Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) protection may also apply — we’ll explain exactly how your money is held before you invest.

No. We are paid for advice, not for selling products, and no adviser here earns a bonus for recommending one thing over another. Sometimes the right recommendation is to leave things exactly as they are, or to do something that earns us nothing at all — and if that’s the answer, that’s what you’ll be told.

That’s absolutely fine, and it’s a more common conversation than you might think. Plenty of people want a second opinion before a big decision, or find their circumstances have outgrown the advice they’re getting. We’ll give you an honest view — including telling you if we think you’re already well looked after. There’s no obligation to move anything, and we won’t contact your existing adviser unless you ask us to.

Then nothing happens and nothing is owed. The first conversation costs you nothing whether you proceed or not, and no chargeable work begins until you’ve seen the cost in writing and agreed to it. You will never receive an invoice for asking us a question.

Less than most people expect. The first call is 20–30 minutes. If you go ahead, gathering the details usually takes one longer meeting, then we do the work and come back to you with recommendations.

Only if you want to. We’re happy to meet at our Wolverhampton office, or talk by phone or video call — whatever is easiest for you, at every stage of the relationship.

If you choose our ongoing service, we review your plan with you regularly — typically at least annually — and we’re on the end of the phone whenever your circumstances change in between.

Something not answered here? Ask us directly — there's no charge for a question.
